What to do if you can't bake

Many people have been saying they'd like to be involved, but don't know how to bake. Here are some ideas:

Volunteer at the sale, even an hour between 10:30 and 4:30 will help us out!

Keep posting the link to the blog for your facebook friends, email it to your friends in the Denver area, and invite people to join you in shopping at the sale.

Consider turning your work/school/garage into a bake sale drop site. You'll be provided with fliers for bakers, cake boxes to transport baked goods, and ideas for spreading the word around your drop-site. When people bring you baked goods on the Friday before the sale, you need only collect them and drop them off on Saturday.

If you cannot host a drop-site, point your baking friends to one of these drop-site locations:

Thimmig Elementary
Mountain Vista Retirement Community

drop-sites only accept baked goods on Friday, February 12

Bake Sale Location!

Update:
We have 5 bakers, 2 flier distributors, and 2 people who will work the sale. All this within 12 hours! We're off to a good start, but we need you! Great news: The good people of First Denver Friends Church have given us the "ok" to host our sale there. Thank you!

If the weather is nice, we will set up in the parking lot right at the intersection of 46th and Federal. This is a high traffic area and we'll definitely be noticed!

If the weather is horrible, we will set up inside the church and provide hot chocolate and coffee.

We NEED you to:

  • Send this blog on to all your friends who might want to participate
  • Bake goodies
  • Distribute fliers at your work or campus
  • Volunteer to help sell on the day of the bake sale
Please email DenverBakeForHaiti@gmail.com if you plan to participate. Remember, all leftovers will go to Denver Rescue Mission that night, so there is no way you can bake TOO much.

Every cent earned will go to Doctors Without Borders emergency relief fund.

Let's Get This Going!

Hi there!

Let's spread the love this Valentine's Day, and send love all the way to Haiti!

Here's how you can help:
  • Bake treats for the sale. We're looking for Valentine's themed treats, vegan treats, gluten-free treats, and plenty of traditional favorites.
  • Spread the word: The sale will take place on February 13th, probably between 11-3. Fliers will be available for download from this blog in no time!
  • Volunteer at the sale: We need people who are nice, good with counting money, and have an hour or two to give on Saturday!
  • Donate items: We need plates, forks, to-go boxes and plastic bags of all sizes

If you can do any of these things, or have a special contribution of your own, please email me at DenverBakeForHaiti@gmail.com

Thanks for spreading the love and baked goods!

Sarah
